About Dosh

Dosh has been making independent music under his own name since 2002. A longtime mainstay of the Twin Cities music scene, he works with multiple instruments: mostly keyboards, drums and samplers; incorporating multiple disciplines, or lack thereof, into a tough-to-pin-down sound.  He released his debut album Dosh, as well as Pure TrashThe Lost TakeWolves And Wishes and Tommy on the indie label Anticon, and 2013's Milk Money was released on Graveface Records.  He has done remixes for everyone from Eyedea and Abilities to Bon Iver, and has opened shows for everyone from Tune-Yards to Tortoise to Black Moth Super Rainbow.

In early 2018, he composed and performed the score for Make Believe Neighborhood, a multi-media collaboration with Bart Buch that ran for a month at In The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre.  In the summer of 2018, he received a commission to compose for a series of silent films from the 20's, mostly by Walter Ruttman which he performed at the Walker Art Center, and in early 2019 he performed a 3 night run of Body Beats, a collaboration with James Sewell Ballet.  He has been working on a new Dosh record for the last year: incorporating all of these disparate influences into some kind of strange cosmic brew.  It will be ready for everyone's ears in 2020, but as we close out 2019, it's probably a good bet that we'll hear some hints of it at the Cedar on December 27.

Support acts to be announced.

About MAKR

Mark McGee, also known by his performance name, MAKR, is a Renaissance man. A Twin Cities transplant by way of Richmond, Virginia, McGee is a key creative contributor to myriad musical projects, among them Father You See QueenRONiiA, and Marijuana Deathsquads. His collaborations have extended beyond music to encompass artists of many different media. (Walker Art Center)

MAKR, McGee’s solo project, is designed to explore music though repetition, slowly unraveling itself into an epic story. McGee recently wrote an original score for The Adventures of Prince Achmed by Lotte Reiniger for the Walker Art Center’s Summer Music + Series this August. (Jerome Foundation)

About The Nunnery

The Nunnery begins with one voice, layered upon itself becoming a lush soundscape.

I began writing on the loop pedal about four years ago while my folk rock group at the time was going our separate ways. Singing with the pedal was therapeutic for my roommate and I while we would make art. At first I was just creating the music for myself, which was a healing process I didn’t know I needed. I began to listen to my voice and understand it. Making a relationship with my melodies and following them to wherever they led. This has become what The Nunnery is now, a continual voice of understanding and growth.

Many of my shows are accompanied with visual projections. The projections are my way of communicating a thought without words, a feeling without description. My hope is that these songs and performances give you a sense of peace, a space to understand your own heart. Thank you for listening, and all of your endless encouragement and support. I couldn’t be doing this without you and I am forever grateful.
