ORDINARIUS
With vibrant harmonies set to Brazilian rhythms and a joyous stage show, ORDINARIUS has breathed new life into Brazil's most beloved songs, from traditional choros to the music of Carmen Miranda.
The repertoire is sometimes performed a cappella (without the use of instruments) or enriched with instruments like guitar, cavaquinho and varied percussions. It covers the national and international popular songbook, from the American pop of Stevie Wonder, the rock of the Beatles, to the bossa nova of Johnny Alf, the sobbing of Ernesto Nazareth and the samba of Gilberto Gil.
ROBERT EVEREST
Twin cities native Robert Everest has been joyfully exploring the music of the world for nearly 30 years. Performing locally, nationally, and internationally, he has delighted audiences around the globe with his original compositions and his vast repertoire of acoustic world music, solo or with his multiple ensembles, played on 7-string Brazilian classical guitar. His fascination with foreign languages led him to his degree work in linguistics and time abroad in many different countries, particularly Brazil, which facilitated his fluency in Portuguese and other languages he brings to his performances. As executive director of Brazilfest MN, Robert also organizes the longest running and most attended Brazilian event in the Twin Cities - Carnaval Brasileiro, which will take place at the Cedar on March 9, 2019.
